Comments for UAITHNE:
The modern spelling is "Uaine."-- Kosta 5/10/2006
Pronounced "OO-a-nya."-- Kosta 5/10/2006
Actually green in Irish Gaelic is ''glas'', not Uaithne.-- someone006 10/21/2006
In Irish Gaelic (at least, according to what I learned), "glas" means a natural green and "uaine" is used for artificial things (clothing, etc.) This seems to be an oversimplification.-- Kosta 4/6/2007
I say it "WAH-nya".
And "uaine" is the word for green in Scots Gaelic (as a general color, while "gorm" (literally "blue") is used for dark green and "glas" (literally "grey") for light green).-- gaelruadh19 1/10/2007
Another pronunciation is "WEN-ya."-- Kosta 5/16/2007
