Nah man, can't stand this name, it reminds me of that chick from Friends.-- Anonymous User 9/14/2006
This form of Jane seems to have been invented by the American novelist Paul Leicester Ford for the title character of his book _Janice Meredith_, first published in 1899. I suspect that he blended the names Janet and Alice to create it. The story is set in New Jersey during the time of the American Revolution, but I've never found a real example born before Ford's book was published. [noted -ed]-- Anonymous User 11/15/2006
An absolute boring name! BLAH.-- Anonymous User 8/4/2007
This is my name and while I don't love it, I don't hate it either. Any other name on this site, no matter how hideous I consider it, has at least one positive comment posted--except mine! I don't believe one should dislike a name just because the writers of a popular television show elected to use it for an unsympathetic character. Nor do I feel the name Janice is boring--not nearly so much so as Anne, Sue, or Lynn! My name is out of style now, but it just may come back in fifty years or so.-- queenv 9/21/2007
I don't really like most names ending in 's' or the 's' sound, and this one is no exception.-- slight night shiver 4/24/2008
