Arabic is the Semitic language that is spoken in the Middle East and northern Africa. It is the 5th most spoken language in the world with about 206 million native speakers *.
Arabic is spoken in many different dialects, some barely mutually intelligible. The Qu'ran was written in what is now termed Classical Arabic.
Arabic is normally written right to left in the Arabic alphabet.
