Numerology is the study of the occult significance of numbers. It is usually considered pseudoscience.

When looking at names, numerologists convert the letters of the name into numbers (see table below). The numbers are then analyzed, certain numbers being understood to represent certain character traits, purposes, or talents.

There are many ways to convert letters into numbers. One such scheme is shown below.

Sometimes the numbers are looked at individually, sometimes they are summed.
