Like someone else said, I have a friend named Abbie and I think it’s an amazing name. I like how it’s spelled with an ‘ie’ instead of a ‘y’. I think Abby looks kind of outdated, but it could still be a good name. Abbie, on the other hand, looks really modern and cute. I wish my name could be Abbie!
I'd much rather Abby.
Hate it! Please just use Abbey, or even better, Abby!
Not a bad name, but I just don't have good associations with it. Every
Abbie/Abby, or however you want to spell it, that I've met has been one of those perfect, sporty, I've-never-done-a-bad-thing-in-my-life type of girls. Abigail is a nice name, but I just don't like Abbie.
Great for a nickname for Abigail!
(Please note, this comment is about Abbie as a stand alone rather than a diminutive if Abigail) Whilst I like Abbie, I much prefer Abnee because of its meaning {It's derived from the word Abnegation meaning renouncement}. It sounds much nicer and has more meaning behind it than just being a modern version of Abigail.
My name's similar to Abbie, but instead of to b's, mine's Abnie. Abnie has more of a meaning behind it, but one of my friends is called Abbie so it gets really confusing! It's a lovely name though, and I would prefer to be called Abbie so people didn't mock the meaning of my name!
The name "Abbie" has its ups and downs. First off, it's quite common. It seems to sound like something else to a third of the people that meet me. "Amy? Ivy? Allie?" And the constant Abigail question. No, it's just Abbie. With an 'ie. However, many people say that my name is pretty. I guess I could mention my middle name and how the names blend together. Abbie Leigh.
I actually prefer Abbie, just Abbie, as opposed to Abigail. To me it's a lot prettier than Abigail or Abby. Although many people don't know it, Abigail was once a slang term for a servant and in fact Abbie was more commonly used than Abigail or Abby. So, this name is actually more classic. I'm usually not one for nicknames as full names, but this is a very solid and beautiful stand alone name. I say choose this over the overused Abigail... Even though most would assume Abigail is her full name anyway.
My name :) best spelling.
I find this spelling a little odd. Abby is better.
I know two girls named Abbie. They're birth names are actually Abigail but they both much prefer being called Abbie. I think Abbie sounds more royal than Abigail. Abigail to me is quite ugly.
I wouldn't use Abbie as a full name, I'd use Abigail. Because the child could choose what to be called.
I don't like this as a full name, I mean, when they get older, (and they will, like or not), Abbie on a file or something isn't exactly mature. Like this name and want to use it? Name her Abigail and call Abbie for short.
This is one of my best friend's name. And her and I both like the spelling, Abbie opposed to Abby.
This is my sister's name and it is beautiful!
