Terribly dated.
A VERY handsome and dignified Scottish name, we would love this for a son as I'm half Scottish and my husband has some Scott's blood from his mum's side as well. I like the nickname Al, too.
Similar to Altair. Surprisingly both of them legendary, badass and super cool.
Pronounced al-a-stair? That doesn't sound like a name to me. Yuck.
One of my all-time favorite boy names!
Love this name and prefer this spelling. We named our son Alastair almost six years ago and still get lots of compliments on his name.
Sounds magical to me too.
Whenever I hear this name, I think more of Alastair Moody from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It sounds like a magical name.
I like it, but I don't know how strong the Aleister Crowley association is, and it could freak people out if they thought the parents of a son with this name were devout followers of him.
The name does have a certain old-fashioned charm to it, and it could be quite a refreshing middle name. At least it isn't too boyish.
I really like this name, I also like it spelled Aleister, like the 19th century British occultist and writer, Aleister Crowley (his real name was actually Edward Alexander Crowley).
Alastair is a nice name for a boy. It sounds smart and handsome. With the popularity of Alexander I am surprised this name isn't used more.
I love this name!
