Alexandra was the name of the last Empress of Russia. She was given the name Alix at birth but changed it to Alexandra upon her marriage to Nicholas II. She was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her husband was forced to abdicate during World War I and sixteen months later they were both murdered by Bolsheviks along with all five of their children. She was a very beautiful woman and this is a very beautiful name, which deserves to be frequently used, in spite of the Empress' tragic history.
