I have a Greek husband, we live in Greece and we named our second daughter Alexandra. It is a very popular and classical name here and pronounced 'alek-SAN-dra'. Our other daughter's name is Athina and we think both of them have classy, mythological Greek names that are quite international, in a sense that these names are well known in English and French speaking countries too. I hope that my girls are going to like their names!
Also used in France. Since "Alexandrie" is the French name for the town Alexandria, French people use more "Alexandra" than "Alexandrie" for little girls.
