This is such a strong name. It's certainly pretty and feminine, but not quite as delicate (nor as "flowery") as some other formal English female names.
I like that this name is easily shortened into a variety of nicknames. My niece is named Alexandria, and calls herself Ali. I love this little moniker -- I much prefer it over (the more common?) Alex. To me it sounds cuter, sweeter, and prettier.

It is also a town in Virginia.

Alexandria is the best 'place name' out there! It's very strong but still feminine.
I think Alexandria is a cute name and has many different cute nicknames. That means they can have a cute child-ish name as a kid and as the grow up they can go by their strong real name or an older mature nickname. I just like the way Alexandria sounds.
My 13 year old daughter's name is Alexandria. I've always loved the name because it was not as common and is easier to say than Alexandra. I wanted a name that was extremely strong and yet can be shortened to be fun and sporty. She goes by Alex, but now is beginning to embrace her full name for its beauty, strength, and more uniqueness than its more common sister name.
I love this name; it's so strong and feminine, and it has so many nice nicknames for every stage in a girl's life, from tomboyish to super feminine. I'd definitely consider using this name for a daughter.
I never really liked my name when I was younger but I'm now 14 and enjoy how I can have so many cutsy nicknames along with the full out sophisticated name. When ever people ask me "Why don't you go by Alexandria, rather than Alex?" I reply back "Alexandria is my princess name, but until then Alex will do".
There is also a city called Alexandria in southern Romania.

I absolutely adore this name and I would seriously consider naming my child {if I have one} this name with the middle name SeƔrlait. It's just a very pretty name that I would definitely use. As far as I've seen, it's not too popular, and there's a city by the name. Plus it's a city named after Alexander the Great, so, yeah. :3
My name's Alexandria. Even since I was little I liked my name, but when I got older I realized even how much better it was. My name can have so many interesting, cute, and even normal nicknames. Though, my nickname is Alex, which is really common, I still really like it. People have always asked why I went by the name 'Alex', it's because it's short, sweet, and tomboyish. I like how my name can be used for both boy and girl, yet my real name is unique, long, and pretty, and my nickname is short, sweet, and tomboyish. This name is perfect for girls, because they can look at it anyway they want, they can be girly and go by the name Allie, they can be interesting and go by the name like Ali, or they can just go with the name Alex.
I love this name. I like the nickname Alex and I know an Alexandria that goes by Ali. I like it better spelled Alexandrea it adds more nickname possibilities like Andrea or Andie.
I adore this name, actually. All of you girls are so lucky to bear this name! I like the elaborated part of it best. Currently there is a British screamo band called 'Asking Alexandria' which I like a lot so that may be why lol but still.
My daughter is called Alexandria and we call her Sasha for short - it is the traditional for it - and we chose it because we thought it sounded strong, professional and classy.

A famous bearer is the British band, Asking Alexandria (one of my favorite bands by the way!)
I love this name so much. It has a million nicknames for it and she can always use the whole name when she's older if she wants. I like Allie or Lexi for nicknames.
Alexandria DeBerry (born 1994 in Kingwood, Texas) is an American actress.

My name is Alexandria and I know many people named Alexandra. Before I knew them, however, I hated the name because no one pronounced it correctly. Now, I like that even if we all go by Alex, My name is different than the other people I know. Being a History geek, that name is an honor on a separate level because of Alexander the Great and his magnificent cities named Alexandria. The name also evolves with the girl, which will be useful throughout her life. The name makes me feel like one of the beautiful fantasy women I read about or a European Queen in a history textbook. If it wasn't my name, I would give it to my daughter.
