"Alexandrie Alexandra" is a song released in 1977 by Claude François. He was a French pop singer, composer, songwriter, record producer, drummer and dancer.
This is a gorgeous, uncommon variant of Alexandra. Sure, the Alex- family of names is *huge*, and the ability to fall back on the familiar "Alex" is still present. But I'm surprised Alexandrie doesn't get more use even in France. It's beautiful.
I am French, I gave this name to my daughter who was born in 1988. I remember when Alexandrie was born, at the hospital they did not want I call my daughter Alexandrie. I made such a drama, that they finally accepted. Lol.
First time hearing of Alexandrie. I like it! It's very different but at the same time has a familiar sound thanks to it's other more popular "Alex-" counterparts.
It's the name of an Egyptian town, but as a name, the feminine form of Alexandre we French use is Alexandra, not Alexandrie.
