According to (http://www.babynames.ch/Info/Hitparade/poBr2015f) the name Alice is ranked 1st place in Brazil in the year of 2015. In 2009 Alice was only 25th place and in the years of 2010-2011 Alice dramatically rose from 18th place all the way up to 7th place. Alícia the official Portuguese spelling of this name in 2015 only ranked 47th place and has reached 47th place 2 other times, in 2014 and 2012, the highest Alícia ranked was in 2011 at 43rd place. I can tell Alice is more trendy than Alícia.
Also a Czech name, though not so widely used. The pronunciation is "ah-lee-tse". "Alice In Wonderland" is not an issue where I live, because the translator changed heroine's name to "Alenka". :) But even for English speaking bearer I like Alice much better than e.g. boring Alison. All the references never bothered me, since they are mostly good ones (Alice Cooper, Alice In Chains).
There are a few comments about Alice not being very popular - but warning, its popularity is on the rise, at least in the UK. In the Telegraph's top girls names in London 2006, it was positioned at no. 1 I believe. National tables more like 40. Could be a sign of what is to come both UK and US wide.
