Never heard of this name, but it looks and sounds a bit weird.
Maybe hard to pull off in modern days but I'm getting very strong Atticus Finch vibes form this name, an Aloysius could fit in a dusty old town. I'll keep it in mind for future older characters, but that's my only thought of uses for it.
Aloysius is my 2nd middle name Patrich is my first middle name and Shawn my first... And yes I’m I am Irish is there any other nationalities a person could want to be? Funny thing though, I couldn’t spell Aloysius til I was 38... Never used it when I’d sign my name.
My grandfather's middle name. Francis Aloysius. Very Irish Catholic.
I thought this was such a great name. I named my dog Aloysius. At the time I found the name interesting, and that it was from a brave and noble warrior. My dog was abused as a pup so I thought if I gave him a strong name, then maybe he could live up to it and become a strong and brave pup.
Mmmm the name Aloysius is Yummy...!
Someone said the name is pretentious but I don't think it's a bad thing to be pretentious when you're drop dead gorgeous or holy!
Aloysius is the best name in the world! It's classy & mysterious and holy and nice!
Quite pretentious and difficult to pull off nowadays, but I still love the sound of it. Would make an unexpected middle name!
Aloysius is one of my guilty pleasures. If I ever used it, it would be a middle name.
Sounds like an old grandad to me and it's even more hideous than Albert and Arthur or even Ada and Agnes, the grandma names. Plus I find a name like Aloysius a bit too elaborate in both spelling and sounds (as opposed to the other four names). Lastly, this name may be confused somewhat with the title of the 1980s British sitcom 'Allo 'Allo.
If I would have a son I would definitely pick Aloysius to be his name. It's a wonderful name. Sounds so kindhearted and original.
