User comments for Alyce (Pronunciation Only)

This name isn't always pronounced AL-is, or the same as 'Alice', but also 'A-leese', which is more similar to the French pronunciation of 'Alice'.

It's pronounced Uh-leese, with the A as an 'uh' sound, stressing leese rather than the other way around as in ALice. It is not Alice with a y. It is an alternative spelling of the name Elise, which is said exactly the same as Alyce (or Alyse, or Elyse).

I knew a girl who spelled it Alyce but pronounced it like Elise with an 'a'.

No it's NOT Alice. It's not an alternative spelling for Alice. It is Alyce and pronounced Aleeese and it can also be spelt Alyse Elise. Why would you name your child Alice with a 'y' instead of an 'I'? You're just confusing people and undoing every Alyce in the world that has to correct people and tell them it is NOT ALICE! I love when people pronounce it properly the first time. It makes me think there are smart people out there that realize there must be a difference in pronunciation if it has a 'y' in it.
