This name is so lovely; it reminds me of a combination of my name Amy, which I love; and Althea, one of my favorite names, that I went by when I was 5 and 6 years old! When I first heard this name, I felt like it was made for me, lol! However it's hard for me to separate the name from the goat character from Greek mythology. Once you can get past the goat association, though, I think it's a lovely and very rare name!
Ooh also, interestingly enough, my Hebrew name, Yael, happens to mean "mountain goat," but it's in the top 5 Israeli girls' names and because it's so popular, I don't associate it with goats whenever I hear it! On the other hand, I know of only one Amalthea, and she's a goat soooo…yeah.
Delicately beautiful. ❤️.
It has a really nice and soft sound to it.
Beautiful. Would inevitably be shortened to Amy or Thea, however, which isn't as gorgeous as the enchanting Amalthea.
I also love the Last Unicorn.
Since I heard the name from "The Last Unicorn" I always pictured someone with grace.
Everyone else thinks I'm being corny but it is just so cute. Don't worry though, I would never name my kid this.
I almost wish that this name wasn't in the database, because it was prettier when it was simply a pretty name in The Last Unicorn.
