It sounds like a childish word play used in Latin America: "Am-pleito!" (probably this name has something to do with its origin). So, don't name someone who's going to live in a Spanish-speaking country with it.

Italian Pronunciation:


"A" as in "Father." "Pe" finds a near equal in the English word "Pay." The final "-Lio" is correctly "Lee-Oh," but becomes meshed into "LYOH" when spoken. [noted -ed]

Ampelio is also the Spanish form of Ampelios (Ampelius).
