Although I don't like feminine names being used on boys, this one is not that bad. I prefer Andreas more.
Very dated!
A feminine version of a name that means “manly”. Huh. A little ironic. I do like this name, it sounds really nice, but I’ll never look at it the same knowing its meaning.
This name always reminds me of the word hand-dryer.
I just love it so much for a girl even though it's supposed to mean "man" in Greek.
This isn't a feminine name. It literally means "man". I don't know how it became a popular name for girls, I would never think about naming my daughter "dude". In Italy it's still a predominantly masculine name, and a very popular one at that. I still prefer the forms Andre and Andreas, they've got a nicer edge to them.
First heard this name at college. Love it! It sounds confident, strong and feminine.
Andrea's a beautiful name and I love it for a girl, only! I don’t like it for a boy at all because it sounds too feminine and I never thought of Andrea as masculine and it’s the feminine (girl) version of Andrew. I’ve also learned Andrew is being used for girls! The masculine form and the feminine form are both getting mixed up. Naming a boy Andrea is worse than naming a girl Andrew and like naming a boy Princess Flower Tiana.
I know Andrea was originally a boy's name, but it still sounds very feminine to me no matter how you pronounce it. I would just use Andre or Andrew instead.
I love Italian Andrea and Greek Andreas, unfortunately where I live it's used as a girl name so I couldn't use it for a boy :(.
Andreas is a much better name.
People saying it sounds feminine should remember: 1) it originally was masculine, but because it ends in 'a' people believed it to be feminine. The same goes with Nicola; 2) the name starts with "andr" like many things that have to do with men (ex. Misandry) and there is a reason.
Youre kidding me right? So OBVIOUSLY a girl name!
