I've also seen this name interpreted as latinisation of the Ancient Greek Andromede meaning "ruler of men", or meaning "mindful of her husband" or meaning "advising like a man". I don't which, if any, is accurate. Also, the French form is Andromède, the Catalan is Andròmeda and the Spanish is Andrómeda.
Andromeda also means "she who has bravery in her mind," which I personally prefer.
