In Russian, Asia is sometimes used as a diminutive of Anastasia/Anastasiya. And in Russian this name has nothing in common with the continent, with is Aziya.Scripts: Азия (Russian)Russian Pronunciation: az-YEE-ə.
I really think some things here need explanation. Firstly, no one in Poland would name their child Asia. It's always Joanna. "-sia" is typical ending for pet forms of girls' names in Poland. So there's Joasia and then Asia.
Also, the pronunciation isn't similar to the word "Asia" (meaning continent) in English. So I fail to see a problem here.
