"ka" would be better translated as fragrance than smell as it's generally meant to refer to a good smell rather than just any smell.

Also, many other kanji possibilities are available for Asuka.

Can also mean "flying bird".

Often means "soaring bird" as well. Asuka is also the name of a Japanese historical period.
