Older Georgian form of Basileios (see Basil). This name is barely in use nowadays. Its shorter form Basil is considered more modern and is thus more in use, but even that name is rare in Georgia. It is Vasil (a shorter form of Vasili, which is the Georgian form of Vasiliy) that is most commonly used in Georgia nowadays.
