Bianca is an Italian/French name meaning "white", "pure", "shining"
It is a cognate of the name Blanche.
It came to the fore in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" and was popularised by Bianca Jagger, wife of Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones.I think it is lovely.
Although it does mean white, it was also used to denote beauty, white related to fair related to pretty. This connotation was recognised by earlier generations hence Shakespeare used as the name of characters he wanted the audience to know were beautiful even though men would be playing the roles & props were limited in his time!
"Bianca" is Italian and means simply "white".
