I heard this on a baby a few years ago and our first reaction was this is the most awful name we’d ever heard. I’ve heard it a few times since then and came around a bit. I still wouldn’t name a child this.
I love this name, but I do agree that it is super childish. It is super cute on a baby, toddler, or elementary school child, but once they are a teenager, I bet they wont appreciate you naming them Birdie.
Love this one! Especially as a nickname for Bridget! Or even as a middle name or a double barrel name.
Great name! I think it’s cute as a given name, not just a nickname. Makes a good name for any age. Bush Phillips named her daughter Birdie.
I really love this name! It's cute, unique and has a fun sound to it! I think those hating on it are reading into it too much!

At 5 year old she was "an infant prodigy" who was taught by the best teachers in the United States and Europe. At the age of 10, she gave concerts in London and other European cities. She was the only American who ever played at so early an age in orchestral concerts.

As a nickname only.
I'm writing a character nicknamed Birdie and despite it being quite old fashioned and a little funny, I think it fits her, and it's a cute name. (Maybe for the 1800s, but regardless)
This name is so cute! I love it! Of course, I would never use it as an actual name, but it's amazing! And somehow, it ages really well to me.
Really old-fashioned and childish at the same time.
I absolutely love the name Birdie! Its so cute and simple! Please, don't hate on this name!
Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one who likes Birdie. It's a little corny, but I am not averse to corniness in names. I do picture a grandmother from the deep south. She makes quilts and watches her grandkids catch fireflies from her back porch and has a killer peach cobbler recipe. I also think of "Birdie" from Avril Lavigne's newest album. Yes, I like Avril Lavigne.
I like Birdy more but Birdie is cute too.
Birdie, Birdie... this is cute on a little kid, but HORRIBLE on a teenager or adult.
This works best as a nickname.
In the UK "bird" is a slang term for a sexually attractive girl or woman, kind of like "chick" in the US, so I find this a bit odd as a name. In the UK this would be like naming a girl Chickie.
Worst name I’ve heard in a while!
Looks like a really rare name, probably few people have it, something like almost a century ago, but it is really sweet and not bad, no. I like this name. Sweet Birdie. Actually, really nice name! Why not.
Absolutely awful!
I think of golf or birds.
Flippin the bird. Very early 1900s old womanish.
I can only imagine the name calling that will happen in school if you give your child this ridiculous name.
One of the dumbest names ever.
Birdie is one of my absolute favorite names for a girl! I think it's super sweet, pure, innocent and simply melodic. Jessica Simpson named her daughter Birdie Mae, and she is just overwhelmingly adorable! I love Birdie for a name.
Makes me think of a girl with a beak-like nose and feathers.
It sounds like a grandmother name from the deep South.
Silly, even as a nickname.
Call me crazy, but I actually really, really love this name. It's cute without being too over-the-top. Would definitely consider using it when I'm older.
Great nickname for a bird named Roberta.
This name has also been used as a pet form of Alberta. [noted -ed]
