Don't care for this spelling, just wanted to say that the banner is gorgeous.
There are lots of variations of this name. I think all of them are really good.
The Y looks really weird and there's the Caitlyn Jenner association...
I'm going to be in the minority here, but I actually do like the name Caitlyn. I am a Celtophile so I tend to like Irish names, but, weirdly, I prefer Caitlyn over the original, Irish Caitlin. Caitlin is okay but a little bland to me. I understand why people may not like Caitlyn though, because it is made up indeed, and I myself am usually not into modern, made up names, my taste overall is much more classic/vintage/traditional/hipster/whimsical/elaborate/quirky, call it what you want, but not modern. But I like a lot of names ending in -lyn, and Caitlyn too, even if it's theoretically not my style, and even if I wouldn't use it on a child (even if we assumed I lived in an Anglophone country), and even though I guess it feels slightly dated for Americans. I think there are much more kre8tyv names out there, and much more trashy (if you really have to call any names trashy but someone on here has used this word so that's what I'm referring to). I think Caitlyn is cool. It still has a little of that Celtic feel left, and, at least to me, feels rather youthful and girly while not being frilly. The only spelling I like more is Katelyn but that's solely because I have pleasant, if rather bittersweet, associations with this name.
People on here seem to have really divided views on whether the association with Caitlyn Jenner is good or bad for this name. I don't like him/her at all, but if someone wanted to name their daughter Caitlyn, and not necessarily in honour of Jenner, I wouldn't tell them not to do it. It's not the only Caitlyn in the world, after all, and while some may assume that she was named after that Caitlyn, I wouldn't be surprised if, by the time the girl grows up, barely anyone would remember Ms. Jenner well enough to make that conclusion. She's not that very popular, I guess. And no sense in spoiling your favourite name for yourself just because there's one person with it that you don't like, that you don't even personally know.
Caitlyn Smith is an American singer-songwriter.
Trashy.
Okay, if y'all are annoyed with the name being affiliated with Kaitlyn Jenner, maybe not give her attention? Like she's just one bearer of the name; if you're so dense (or more likely transphobic) that you think naming your kid a name some pop culture twitter celebrity has will have some bad effect on them, I truly wonder how you manage not to forget to breathe.
I've always hated Caitlin and its plethora of misspellings, and then there's that annoying creep Caitlyn Jenner. Considering back when he was Bruce he got his kicks from wearing his stepdaughters' underwear while they were out of the house, I don't think this is something you'd want to name your kid after.
This is not the worst trendy butchering of Caitlin (that title belongs to garbage like Keightlynne or Cahtelinne) but it looks unintelligent and made up compared to the original spelling.
Caitlyn Swift is the real name of the woman going by the alias of Susan Hart in the British drama Ripper Street.
I don't think it's that bad, and I've seen plenty of worse spelling variants of Caitlin. Unfortunately I'm afraid it's going to be associated with the annoying and extremely overexposed Caitlyn Jenner.
This name isn't too bad. I just really don't care for any "C" spellings and the fact that this particular spelling is going to be associated with some repulsive 60 something year old he-she. I hope to god this spelling doesn't spike in popularity because of him.
My name used to be this. To be honest, I always hated it. I am a biker chick and it seems too "prim and proper" to me. I changed my name years ago. And I am happy I did. The only good thing about this name is Caitlyn Jenner :-)
This is probably the least annoying misspelling of Caitlin, but it's still bad, and unfortunately people are going to associate it with Caitlyn Jenner. Plus it looks ridiculous on a 65-year-old woman.
Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, is an Olympic track and field athlete. She broke the record for fastest time to gain one million Twitter followers (4 hours).
Caitlyn Gellar is a character on the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock."
I spell my name Caitlynn, it seem perfectly easy to me to spell. I have never met anyone else that spells it this way. I am only 23 however so maybe I will someday. To me may name is like two words put together. Cait and Lynn, It seems classic to me. I would not like it if it was spelled with a k instead of a c. I have gone by nicknames such as Cait and caitie. This name works well for various age groups. As a child I went by more of my nicknames and as an adult I go by my full name.
This is my name. Despite being born during the great Caitlyn/Caitlin/Katelyn/etc. boom of the late 80s, I have grown to like it. My dad wanted me named after his sister Lynn. Since she died in an accident at age 18, my superstitious mother compromised with Kaitlynn. Eventually they picked the Caitlyn spelling, which I've grown to love. They gave me an old-lady middle name after my great grandma though, just in case. I'm just relieved not to be another Caitlin/Katelyn Marie.
I just can't see the need to spell it with a Y.
I only know two girls with this spelling. If you like this name, I would suggest using Caitlyn, Caitlin, or Katelyn. Kaitlyn and Kaity are just so overly used!
It's amusing that most people who respond positively to this name are girls bearing it. Biased much?Use Caitlin if you have to. Caitlyn looks juvenile.
This is my name. I prefer the spelling, however at my school of 453 girls, there are 5 in the choir with the same spelt this way.
I like this name, and this spelling. I used to like Katelyn more, but now that spelling is becoming too popular for me, and when I looked at this spelling closer one day, I realized I like it better than Caitlyn. I also like Caitlin and Caitlynn!
I adore the name Caitlyn, with the nickname Cait/Cate.
Actor Sean Murray & Carrie James have a daughter Caitlyn Murray (born 2007).
Caitlyn is my name and I absolutely love its spelling. I've only ever met 1 with the same spelling. In school I've never had a teacher spell it right.
I LOVE my name and I think it is a cute name. Every time I'm at school or something people always spell it the wrong way or if I go into a gift shop, they do not have the right spelling.
To me, this is the best way to spell Caitlyn.
This is my name, and though other forms of it are quite common, I've only met two other girls in my life who share this spelling. I think it's absolutely beautiful and have always been proud to bear it.
