The way I normally pronounce it is in the Italian pronunciation, which is kah-MEE-lah. I find American English/British English speakers often pronounce it as cah-MILL-ah. It does not really bother me too much, I know that they're referencing me but I find it quite ugly in that form. My friends often call me Cam, friends and family in Italy often call me Cami. With the double L in the name, I occasionally get people who call me "Camelia" if they read my name before meeting me. Also very common to see people spell my name with just one l instead of two ls, which is the Spanish variation of the name. Truthfully, I have grown to appreciate my name despite these very minor "issues". It has also been growing in popularity for baby girl names within the last few years!

I must correct a mistake regarding the Italian pronunciation.
Wrongly stated: kah-MEEL-ah
Accurate answer: Kah-MEEL-Lah
No letter is neglected, mind you. Which means, both "L"s must be distinctly spoken. Consider "Isabella," "Bella" for a moment. People seem to at least be enlightened in knowledge that both "L"s are pronounced (whether or not that choose to voice). It is "EEZ-Ah-Beyl-Lah," or "Beyl-Lah." Never "Isa-Bell-Ah." Be mindful of the fact, Italian is a Romance language. Passionate people. Dramatic poeple. Love the words... linger and hold.
"Ca" always makes a hard "Kah." "I" (Mi) is tressed to "EE." Once again, both "L"s are sounded, which is most easily accomplished by placing greater emphasis on the character before (in this case, "I"). And finish with the "La," equaling "Lah."
Now, add your most dazzling, dramatic and prime Italian accent-- Voilà. [noted -ed]

The Italian pronunciation is not kah-MEEL-ah but kah-MEELL-lah.

I have only known one person with this name, but she pronounced it CAM-il-la. She went by Cammie anyways.
