I was talking about names I like with my family and my brother said he liked Carolina. I think it is so nice and beautiful, and a perfect name for his daughter.

I just recently heard about this name and fell in love with it immediately. It is so beautiful and elegant. Carrie or Lina could be used as nicknames.

Carolina is absolutely divine. If I ever move to another state, I am certain I will name a daughter of mine Carolina.
I love my name. Carolina. My dad named me after his mother who died exactly 1 year before my birth. Not only does it have emotional meaning but every time a guy asks me what my name is they always have the same reaction."WOW. That's a hot name!"
I don't know why, but this is one of my favorite names ever. But I only like it pronounced kahr-o-LEE-nah. If it's pronounced kahr-o-LIEN-a, it just makes me think of the states North and South Carolina. And I would never my my kid after a state.
Carolina is a hot name as someone said. I love this name, exotic, refreshing. The best pronunciation is Kahr-o-LEE-nuh. Beautiful, I'm writing it down to remember it.
Carolina is one of those elegant, classy and sophisticated names you can't go wrong with. I love it, when pronounced the Spanish way - kah-ro-LEE-nah (I find the English pronunciation unappealing, sorry). It's not overly common, but still practical, in terms of spelling and pronunciation. Carolina has to be one of my favourite names. However, I wouldn't like people to shorten it to Carol. Carol has always struck me as being wet-blankety, like an aunt you don't like visiting. I might push for Lina, but it takes away the beauty of Carolina. I really don't understand some people's need to shorten already beautiful names.
This is a very sexy name. It may not have a lot of many carriers of this name, but it just sounds hot. And it's only hot when it's pronounced Carol-Eena, not Carol-I-Na.
I like the name, but it is SO overused where I live. I know EIGHT Carolinas, but 2 of them use it as a middle name. And yet I feel like I'm forgetting somebody...
Seriously!? This must be a west coast name. No one on the east coast is going to name their kid after the Carolinas. Bit overkill. It's like naming your daughter after a sporting team (Go Carolina Tarheels! Or Go Carolina Panthers!). Or naming your kid after the government- which reminds me, I still need to pay my taxes. I live in the state of North Carolina, you see.
As for South Carolina- it's a poor state, a conventional place, and near last in education.
I like the Italian/Spanish pronunciation car-o-lee-nah, very pretty. This, along with Georgia and Virginia are in my opinion the only acceptable "state" names.
