Comments for the name Cedar

Comments for CEDAR:

I like this name because I have only met one guy named Cedar and, as the name sounds strong and sturdy to me, it seemed appropriate to me because he had those same qualities - physically and in his personality. I have to disagree though with the listing where it says that this name is feminine - a cedar tree is what comes to my mind - hardly a feminine picture to me!

If you ever have a child and you name it this name, and there is a twin, Sequoia and Aspen are very good names, especially for people who like nature! Cedar, Aspen, and Sequoia all have to do with trees! :-)

I may be wrong, but isn't Cedar a type of wood? That would be like naming your child Oak or Branch.

Yes, Cedar is a type of wood, but so are Willow, Rowan, Laurel, Juniper and Sequoia. And those are all people names too.

I've only known boys with this name. Love this on a boy. Couldn't picture it on a girl. I'm especially fond of names beginning with 'C' that have the 'S' sound.

This sounds corny as a name. I find it hilarious because I think of the Bible verse about Behemoth "stiffening his tail like a Cedar" (if you know what I mean).

Cedar Walton is a famous jazz pianist (male).

I kind of like it, if it's pronounced "seh-DAR" and used on a male. I think it's much too masculine for a girl.
