To the people who are saying this name reminds them of chlorine... there’s a good reason for that. The Greek word “khloros” means “pale green”, which is where we get words like “chlorophyll”, “chloroplast” and “chlorine” from. Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plants that allows photosynthesis to happen and chloroplasts are the structures that contain it. Chlorine is a green gas. With this in mind it’s not hard to see where we get the name Chloe and its “green shoot” meaning from. Chloe and chlorine are derived from the same thing.Personally, I’ve always liked the name and would even go as far as saying it’s in my top 10.
There is a Russian variant of this name as well - Khloya (Хлоя in Cyrillic script).
Also means "young girl, young shoot" in Greek.
