"Corneille" is sort of an umbrella term used for birds from the corvus genus (that is, crows, ravens, magpies, etc) in French, or at least in the Canadian French that I know.
Put more simply, it's what you'd call a dark-coloured bird if you're not sure what it is.

There's also a fairly popular musician (in French Canada) named Corneille.

This name is unisex in France; though most often found on males, it was also used for females - especially several decades ago.
