WOW! What a name! The CRIS is stylish and the PIN is humourous - it's a winning combination. If God had a name I have no doubt it would have been CRISPIN.
I like this name. It's cute for a little boy and dashing for a man. Unfortunately, it is probable that someone named Crispin would be teased to no end.
In the Mistmantle Chronicles by M. I. McAllister (I think that's the correct spelling of her name), one of the characters, a squirrel, is named Crispin. He starts out as a captain, but he's banished because he's falsely accused for the prince's death. He returns to Mistmantle Island after Urchin (the main character) rescues him. When the king dies, it is his duty to become the next king, which he does. He's a very noble character with a very noble name, in my opinion.
The name seems ridiculous to me. It sounds like the adjective 'crispy', and it makes me think of cereals. I remember that this was the name of some host on MTV Europe way back in 1996 and 1997, and he wasn't one of my favorites for whatever reason (I doubt I really understood what he was talking about), and I already loathed the name then.
Although I would never use this name, I think it is rather unusual and strange, and because of that, I - sort of, in a strange way - like it, partly, I think too its rarity and its unusual sounding-ness. :)
Crispin Freeman is a famous bearer. Freeman is a well know voice actor for many titles of anime and video games, including titles such as Hellsing, Naruto, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka 7, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; to name a few.
Ok, I have to agree with most of the comments... it does remind me of a potato chip or something crunchy. As far as a name, I sort of like it, but then I don't really like it at all. It sounds ok with a few other names that would be ok for someone else's kid, not mine though.
Crispin Freeman is a voice actor; he voices Itachi Uchiha (Naruto), Shizuo Heiwajima (Durarara!!), Holland Novak (Eureka 7), Haji (Blood+), Alucard (Hellsing), Alex Row (Last Exile), and Tsume (Wolf's Rain), among many other roles.
