The Dacians were originally known as the daoi, from Phrygian daos, meaning "wolf."
Daciana - the origin of this Romanian feminine name is indeed from Dacia, the ancient name of today Romania. But this means three regions (Transilvania, Moldavia and Walachia), and not just two as in your commentary. Transilvania was the most important center of social, economical and military life of Dacia. Even the capital (the city of Sarmizegetusa) is located in Transilvania-Orashtie Mountains.
In Romania, is used also the name DACIAN, as the masculine form of Daciana.
