Comments for the name Darden

The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia is one of the top graduate schools of business in the United States. It was named for the third president of the University, Colgate Whitehead Darden, Jr. (1947-1959).

Arden sounds okay on a guy, even if a bit dull, but Darden sounds wrong somehow. It sounds ugly, and too close to 'garden'. Not that I don't like gardens, but I don't like the resemblance.

Something about the name sounds . . . clumsy. I'm not really entirely certain why, but it just doesn't roll of the tongue quite right.
