This is the girl's version of Demetri, which is a common name in Transylvannia where vampires are.
-- amber monkey  3/17/2006
There are no such things as vampires. I always loved this name (though I think I like Demetra more). One of my characters is named Demetra, and my friend's character is named Demetria (after my character).

Kinda a mysterious name, it's nice though. In Spy Kids 3-D the girl, not Carmen, is named Demitria! Mysterious character too.
-- Miamaya  3/26/2006
"Demetra" is a variant of "Demetria".

Hm, I like this name, actually. I've always loved history, and the fascinating history behind ancient names. :)
-- annekb94  10/24/2008
A derivation of 'Demetria' is 'Demetra', without the I.
-- 1m4n  1/3/2009
Means "belonging to Demeter."

Demetria Devonne Lovato aka Demi Lovato.

This is to me a much better name than Demi. Of all the ancient goddesses, Demeter is one of the best to derive one's name from because she was truly the "people's goddess." Demeter was concerned with not just agriculture, but the welfare of all human beings, especially women and children.

In the book Hand of Isis, this is the name of Charmian's daughter.

I think the name Demetria is so cute, I love it.

This name is very beautiful, and I really like it. However, I can't stand the nickname Demi because it reminds me of a certain actress that I'm not fond of.
-- bananarama  12/18/2009
Beautiful. I just hate the nicknames.
-- Alora  1/2/2010
I think this name is really cool, but it always makes me think of an Eastern European/Russian woman for some reason. Yes, so I concur, a really nice name. :)
-- walesgal92  4/10/2010
It's VERY beautiful, but it resembles "dementia".
-- Chrila96  12/4/2010
I also would not abbriviate this Demi, as I really hate Demi Lovato (sorry to all you worshippers of someone who punches dancers, starves herself, cuts herself, and got kicked off a Disney Channel show). I would consider Demmie though, or even Tria.
-- C-Ticket  7/24/2011
"Demetria" holds a very unique quality while not straying to the sin of 'kre8tivitee.'
It is very sophisticated, utterly ravishing-- although, the nickname of "Demi" is truly an atrocity. While I am not too fond of diminutives for this particular name, I suppose that "Metria," "Metri," or even "Mickey" would be interesting.
-- Francesca  2/2/2012
I love this name! This is Demi Lovato's real name. But she goes by Demi.
