Dewey was the name of that sweet little library cat, wasn't it? I don't like it on a person at all, but it's so cute on animals. I dunno why. It just suits some of them.

Dewey Denouement is the sub sub librarian in "The Penultimate Peril" by Lemony Snicket. It's book 12 in the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" book series.

Dewey is also a main character in "Unshelved", a cartoon strip for librarians.

I have come to associate the name Dewey with libraries, I quite like it.

Surname of George Dewey, a very well-known public figure during the Spanish-American War. Dewey led the Americans in the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898. It's possible that he was the cause of the spike in the name's popularity that year. The name George also took a (much less noticeable) jump up in 1898.
