I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but there was an American sitcom running from 1997 to 2002 called "Dharma & Greg." The basic premise was that fairly strait-laced and "normal" Greg was married to a hippie named Dharma, and their families often clashed. It was good for a few laughs.
