My best friend is Russian, and his name is Dmitriy, but he goes by Dima. Everyone he knows loves his name, as do I. It's very cute and catchy. Also very different.

Dima Bilan is a Russian pop star. He was born in 1981, and his birth name is Viktor Nikolayevich Belan. To avoid claimants on his stage name, he changed his legal name to this. Also, Dima is a pet form of Dmitry, but he just liked Dima better.
