Meaning & History

Modern Scandinavian form of both Dómari and Dómarr. However, when used in the context of Norse mythology, it strictly refers to the latter name.

In Norse mythology, this was the name of a Swedish king who had inherited the throne after his father was sacrificed to the gods by his people, in the hope that his death would bring about a period of prosperity.
