It is a most nice name, with lots of meaning to it. Another of my friends is named Eliane. I think it is a simply nice name.

This name has appeared in France in the 20th century, and has unsure meaning. It's probably a pet form of Elisabeth, or a feminine form of Elie.

My name is Eliane and everyone pronounces it Elaine. I spell it with two L's so people wouldn't think it was Elaine, my name is not Elaine it is Elliane (Ellie-on). I always tell people pronounce the -ane part like you're a pompous British person.
