Comments for ÉLOÏSE:
Eloise is the name of the character in Kay Thompson's books and Hilary Knight's drawings, including "Eloise at the Plaza". She is a very spunky, outgoing, loving, caring child.-- rubberduckiiz2 1/5/2006
A diaeresis should be written above the "i" in the French form of this name to signify that it is pronounced as a different letter, otherwise it would sound like [ɛlw¨»:z].

The above poster is right--to be pronounced as "ay-lo-EEZ", it needs to be written as "Éloïse". "Éloise", according to the rules of French pronunciation, would be pronounced "el-WAZ".-- Anonymous User 3/15/2008
