To me, this sounds like someone mispronouncing Elizabeth or Elisabeth in order to annoy the person bearing that name.

Sometimes I write Elsabeth instead of my real name Elsebeth, because I think it sounds more cool. I pronounce it like (E)L-sah-beth, almost like Elsebeth is pronounced (E)L-seh-beth.
