A variation of this name, Emmit, is used by American indie-electronica musician Emmit Fenn, who is most well known for his album "Painting Gray." (Berkeley, California, 1996-)

Emmett Brown is the name of "the Doc" in the Back to the Future series. Cool namesake!

I happen to know a man named Emmett O'Hanlon, and he is a humble, nice, well-built, handsome Irish/American singer (Celtic Thunder + Oprah). I love the name, it rolls off of the tongue very easily, and is one of those kind of safe-haven feeling names. Almost like you can trust an Emmett. There is also another Emmet spelling used with another young man from Celtic Thunder, and the spelling is only different in missing that last 't' at the end.

No one has mentioned Emmet from the movie Roadhouse. That's where I first heard the name when I was younger.
