Really masculine and handsome.
My son's name is Emrys Zoltan which literally means “immortal life”
I’m honestly proud of myself for coming up with this name:)
I've always seen this as a unisex name. It works well for girls as well as boys in my opinion.
Also the name of the old man version of Merlin in BBC's version of the Arthurian legends, Merlin. :)
Also the name of a Dwarven character in the secondary quest “Fool’s Gold” in the video game Dragon Age II. In the game it’s pronounced “EM-rees.”.
I've always found the name Emrys so hot and handsome. It's a respectable name, in my opinion. ^_^
AncientAndForever is correct - this name is pronounced "EM-riss".I like the name, but the only people I've ever met called Emrys have been old men, so it seems a bit antiquated to me.
It is actually pronounced EM-riss, not EM-rees. The 'y' in Welsh has more than one pronunciation, so Rhys = HREES, but Rys = riss.
Emrys is pronounced EM-rees.
A beautiful boy/girl twin combination could be Emrys and Amara. Amara means "Unfading" and Emrys means "Immortal". =) My favorite.
In T. A. Barron's Merlin series, Merlin's given name is Emrys.
Emrys is also the common name given to the wizard Merlin in Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy books, specifically in The Crystal Cave, Volume 1 of the Arthurian saga.
It means "immortal".
