His papers were translated by Cherokee scholar Jack Frederick Kilpatrick and provide valuable insights into life among the Eastern Cherokee during the era after the Trail of Tears and Civil War. "Inole", possibly referring to either a person or the animal, sometimes appears in the name of a street or road, particularly in areas formerly occupied by the Cherokees.
