Eva Peron was an actress that married an Argentinean officer and became a luminary for the Argentine people. She's played by Madonna in the movie 'Evita'.
My name is also Eva and I like it. It's short, so there is no need for nicknames, and it's international.

So much prettier than the overused Ava.

Another one of my favourite names for a girl. Classically pretty and feminine and not extremely common. I also like how you could use the nicknames Eve and Evie with it.
We named one of my twin daughters Eva (12 months old). We pronounce it eh-vuh and I think it is the most beautiful -- and unusal -- version of the name. Sooo much better than Ava or Ella! I think and hope that our Evy will be the only Eva she knows!
Eva Green, the French born actress, is the 'First Bond Girl', Vesper Lynn (odd name really, for a girl, I'm sorry) in Casino Royale (Excellent Movie). I also know a girl who pronounces her name like Ava, even though its spelt Eva.
I was born in the mid-50s, and my parents named me after a relative who pronounced this name "Eh-vah." I've had a lifetime correcting people. Glad to hear my family's pronunciation is catching on.
Ironically, the relative was from my father's side of the family (English/German) but that pronunciation is closer to Italian, and my mother's family is mostly Italian.
Oh, gosh, where to start? I just adore this name on so many levels. Beautiful sound, classic without being overused, feminine without being frilly, suits a newborn and her grandmother equally well. Not terribly popular, but not weird either, still familiar and easy to spell/pronounce. Short enough that it doesn't require a nickname, but has the option of two lovely nicknames if you so desire (they can even grow with her - Evie for when she's a little girl, Eve for when she's older). To me, it's just the perfect name.
Eva could also represent a latinised form of Gaelic 'Aoibhe' or Old English 'Æffe'.

I always ignored the name Eva, thinking it was boring, too short, too simple. Then I read this book, called Tenderwire, and the protagonist was named Eva Tyne, and she was such an unforgettable character that it made me fall in love with this name.
Eva is the name my husband and I gave our daughter (now 10 months old). I always loved it - it's simple, feminine without being frilly, international, short and easy to pronounce - or so I thought! The problem we have with it now is that so many people think she's just another "Ava"! We pronounce it EE-vah.
I love this name! It's simple and nice and has a great meaning. I have a friend who has this name and I think it suits her well. When I think of the name Eva, I think of a wonderful, smart girl with a good sense of humor.

I love this name beyond belief. To me it's beautiful, sweet, and somewhat other-wordly--as weird as that sounds. But I think I liked this name a lot more after listening to the song "Eva" by Nightwish, my favourite band. =)
I pronounce Eva and Ava the same way, but I far prefer Eva. It just sounds so classical, pretty, universal, and timeless, in comparison to Ava, which is very faddish and overused at the moment.
This name is lovely; so much better than the overly trendy Ava. Due to famous women like Eva Peron, Eva Braun, and Eva Gabor, I've always pronounced it like Ava. I just can't pronounce it with a long E.
Actually, in Spanish the pronunciation is EH-bah. Spanish doesn't make a distinction between the sound of b and v, both graphemes correspond with the /b/ phoneme.
Eva is one of my favorite names, and I love that it's my middle name. I sometimes wish that this was my first name, since I find many more Alexandras than Evas. My family pronounces it a number of ways. My siblings say EE-vah, my parents say EH-vah, and I say AH-vah. I don't really care, because I love my name. My Hebrew name is Chava, which means "giver of life" (reason for why I pronounce it the way I do). A beautiful meaning for a beautiful name!
Eva Markvoort was a Canadian girl with cystic fibrosis and famously red hair. She kept a LiveJournal account and made a documentary about her life, both entitled 65_redroses.
This is my little sister's name. It is quite cute and it suits her. It is pronounced 'ee-vuh', and I think it is the most prettiest out of all. We sometimes pronounce it the German way 'e-fah' when we speak German. I think this name can suit any girl and it sounds nicer than the very overused Ava. A good girls name.

My great aunt and grandmother from italy were both named Eva. I think it is the most beautiful, elegant, timeless and classic name for a girl. I am currently pregnant with my first child and want nothing more than to have a girl so I can name her after the most influential women that ever graced my life.
