Meaning & History

The meaning of this name is uncertain. One theory suggests it comes from אזב ('azab), meaning "to scrub" or "to flutter". A second theory suggests it comes from בזז (bazaz), meaning "to plunder".

In the Bible, Ezbai is the father of Naarai, one of David's warriors. He is only mentioned once in the Bible, in 1 Chronicles 11:37.
