Wow, no one has yet to comment a personal impression on this name. Anyway, I used to think this name was Russian due the ending. It’s weird but a good name to me and you could use the cute nickname “Gus”!

This name is Swedish and its meaning is honored guest of god. It means this because Gus is the old name for god in Swedish and tav is an old word for guest in Swedish. I was informed about the words from a Swedish friend of mine, and it does have this meaning at least in Sweden. It may have other meanings in other languages or countries.
