I have also seen this used as a feminine pet form of Gwyneth and spelled GWINN.

A lot of people seem to think this name is very feminine sounding but I love it and have always seen it as much more of a boy's name than a girl's (though Gwyneth is nice!).
This is the name of a character in Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve. A girl named Gwyna changes her name to it when she pretends to be a boy. Gwin (with an 'i') is the name of Dustfinger's (male) pinemartin in Inkheart. I thought it sounded like a girl's name when I first heard it because it is similar to Gwen, but now I quite like it.
Although I don't think this is very masculine, I still LOVE the name Gwyn, would just fit better for a girl in my opinion.

There is a name 'Gwynfa' which is a variation of this name. I have seen it used by one man and one woman - both Welsh and now dead, so an unusual and old fashioned name. They both claimed it meant 'white'.
