Hades isn't the god of death (that's Thanatos) but the god of wealth. He just happened to work as the ruler of the Underworld. Then, it's not a evil name at all.The Disney film mixed it all. The one that hated Herakles wasn't Hades, but Hera. Same happens with the Percy Jackson film: they turned Hades into the bad guy when it was actually Ares.

Actually, Hades IS the god of Death, if you look at it a certain way. He is also called the Lord of Death and I always took this as a show of his power over Thanatos (Death is capitalized because it's a name).
