As is mentioned in the entry for Herod, the original Greek form of the name is ‘Ηρωιδης (Heroides). As a result, it is incorrect to list Herodes as the original form in this entry. At the very least, it is not right that the Greek spelling mentioned in this entry is actually Heroides (when properly transcribed) and thus doesn't match Herodes at all.
With that said, Herodes is actually a variant form or spelling of Heroides, as it is spelled as Ἡρώδης in Greek. See also:
