Heron (pronounced HEER-on I believe) was an ancient Greek geometer and inventor. He was also known as Hero. [noted -ed]

The SS Heron is a part of the Harry Potter fanverse. People who support the 'ship' (short for relationship) between main characters Hermione and Ron are said to "sail the SS Heron." The 'ship' got its name by combining the names Ron and Hermione.

"Heron" is the name given to a common large wading bird family, found in most temperate areas but most common in tropical and subtropical areas.

I've heard it said "HAIR-inn," "ha-RON," and "HEER-in."

It makes me think of heroin. Awful name that hopefully never makes find its way onto the charts.

It reminds me of birds or heroin, the bird association is okay to me, the drug is not. Better than Hero on a boy though.
