Hildebrand

Hildebrand Jacob (1692 or 1693–1739) was a British poet and playwright, whose major works include the epic poem Brutus the Trojan and the tragic verse drama The Fatal Constancy. His collected works (entitled The Works of H. Jacob, Esqr.) were published in 1735.

Old Hildebrand is a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It's about an old peasant named Hildebrand whose wife falls in love with a parson.

Hildebrand Glossop is a supporting character in P.G. Wodehouse’s novel “Right Ho, Jeeves” (1934).

Pope (Saint) Gregory VII (c. 1015 – 1085), born Hildebrand or Ildebrando of Sovana, was Pope from 1073 until his death. A great reformer and fascinating historical character, and since he believed that the papacy was supreme on earth, he also played various political roles, seeking to assert his authority over secular rulers like the Holy Roman Emperor.
